Daryln Reaves

NEED Leadership Scholarship (Reid) Awardee 2012

Daryln displays her leadership qualities in many forms: vice-president of National Honor Society; former president and current secretary of the student government; vice-president of Perry Pearls; captain of the dance team; president of CHANGES; secretary of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions); and secretary of the African-American Center for Advanced Studies Executive Committee. She has a 3.37 at Perry Traditional Academy and excels in her classes, especially math courses. Daryln is interested in becoming a pharmacist and eventually obtaining a doctorate degree.

Rashaad N. Phillips

NEED Leadership Scholarship (Reizenstein) Awardee 2012

Rashaad’s cultural experiences in Ghana and Cambodia, along with his affiliation with the Black Student Union at Shady Side Academy, are the reasons that he wants to study global affairs in order to conduct creative methodologies toward world peace among groups of people. He has a 3.1 GPA at the school, is president of Community Builders, president of the symphonic band as well as founding member of the Diversity and Leadership Council. Rashaad is the youth director for a youth gospel choir, a member of an African dance ensemble and a mime group.

Elisha Hill

NEED Leadership Scholarship (Jordan) Awardee 2012

Elisha ranks number three in his class and has a 4.16 GPA at Wilkinsburg Junior/Senior High School. He excels academically by his membership in the National Achievers Society, Math, Science and Academic Teams, College Preparatory Initiative Program, the United States Academy for Language Arts, and the 21st Century Program. Athletically, Elisha is captain of the varsity basketball team and elected MVP because of his leadership abilities. As a part of his community involvement, he volunteers by delivering meals, mentoring and coaching. Six years ago, Elisa built a computer at the Jerome Bettis Cyber Engineering Program.

Jacqueline Clarke

NEED Leadership Scholarship (Fasion) Awardee 2012

Jacqueline feels that leadership and its traits have contributed to her learning, passion, goals, opportunities and service. With a 4.1 GPA, she is captain of the cheerleading squad, a peer mediator and a member of the yearbook staff, teen forum and Future Educators of America at Barack Obama Academy of International Studies. Jacqueline was crowned the first Miss Ebony Teenage in 2010. She volunteers at a local food bank and at numerous church activities.

Jamari Bradshaw

NEED Leadership Scholarship (Silver) Awardee 2012

Jamari describes himself as prompt, punctual, responsible and determined as he has never been tardy and has maintained a perfect attendance record. He has a 3.6 GPA at Canon McMillan High School where he is a member of the World Affairs Council and the choir. Community activities include 100 Black Men Mentoring program where he served as president for one year and the Infolink program at CMU. Born in St. Croix, Jamari plans on pursuing a career in computers and technology.
