NEED offers both scholarships and grants. A grant is a need-based form of aid while a scholarship is merit-based aid.
Unmet NEED Program Grants
Our grants are made through our Unmet NEED Program, our hallmark program, which provides last dollar funding to lower-income students that still have a need for aid after all federal, state, local and private scholarships and grants have been secured. These grants are not automatically renewable. Students must complete a new application each year.
Adopt-A-Student Program
Students who apply for assistance from NEED may be selected into the "Adopt-A-Student" program. Through this program, an donor selects or asks NEED to select an individual which meet their set criteria. The donor then provides an annual grant of $1,000 for each year the student completes college. In return, NEED keeps the donor abreast of the student's progress and provides opportunities for mentoring and other interaction if the donor requests it. There is no separate application for this program and students cannot request enrollment into it. Students are notified by NEED if they are selected to be enrolled in the program. These grants may be either need based or merit based.
Scholarship/Grant Management
NEED administers and manages a wide variety of scholarships and grants for local churches, corporations, individuals, and organizations. While, students cannot apply for the following scholarships individually, all those students who submit the regular Unmet NEED Program application are given equal consideration in determining which scholarships they may be eligible for and then submitting their application for consideration of the special scholarship. Scholarships may be either need-based or merit-based, depending on the specific criteria of the donor. Following are the list of scholarships that are administered by NEED through this program:
